Rice with Parmesan Garlic Butter
It’s impossible to have too many recipes for side dishes. This rice with garlic butter is a tasty and simple side dish that goes well with a variety of main courses, but it’s also great by itself! It’s long-grain white rice cooked in chicken broth with garlic and onion. The rice is then topped with parmesan Parmesan for even more taste!
Rice Ingredients
- Butter: This recipe calls for six tablespoons of unsalted butter. Although salted butter works, I prefer unsalted.
- Onion: I used roughly a quarter of a chopped yellow onion.
- Rice: For optimal effects, use long-grain white rice. Jasmine rice or basmati rice would be suitable substitutes.
- Stock: If you don’t have any on hand, prepare your homemade chicken stock. You could even use chicken broth and get away with it.
- Parmesan Cheese: I like my parmesan cheese, which is freshly grated, so it melts more easily into the rice. When serving, keep some extra on hand to sprinkle on top!
Making Of Parmesan Garlic Butter Rice
This side dish is not only tasty and enhances the flavor of plain white rice, but it can be prepared in only one pot! As the rice cooks, you want to keep the pot covered, so make sure it has a lid.
To begin, melt three tablespoons of the butter over medium-low heat. Once the butter has melted, sauté the chopped onion until it becomes soft. Then, before adding the rice, add the garlic and heat for one minute. Pour the butter mixture over the uncooked rice.
Bring everything to a boil after adding the chicken stock, salt, and pepper. After it starts to boil, turn the heat down to low and put a lid on it. Simmer until the rice is done, and the liquid has been absorbed for 15 to 20 minutes.
Lastly, remove the saucepan from the burner, use a fork to fluff the rice, and add the remaining three tablespoons of butter and parmesan cheese. Garnish the rice with additional parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
How to Determine When Rice Is Cooked Through
It may seem obvious, but the easiest method to tell when rice is done cooking is to taste it. After 15 to 18 minutes, try the rice; if necessary, you can cook it for a few more minutes. Additionally, allow the pot to rest for a while before fluffing it up after taking it off of the heat. When cooked, white rice should be fluffy and tender.
Serving Ideas with Garlic Butter Rice
Yes, you may eat this rice recipe by itself, but it also makes a delicious side dish for main courses. To begin, try serving the rice with steak bits, pork chops, or Browned Butter Honey Glazed Salmon. Additionally, remember to include some vegetables on the menu, such as green beans or asparagus.
